PROJECT OVERVIEW.

The in-adequate stormwater drainage in Harris Street Paddington was causing havoc during rain events, with flooding of residencies and significant land erosion. Pezzimenti was contracted by Woollahra Council to install 1x20m 950Ø stormwater in this extremely tight work space.

Extremely Tight Workspace

The site, located in a dead end street at the bottom of a hill, had no area available for spoil placement, with low power lines also cramping the site further.

Pezzimenti utilised the gantry truck setup over the launch pit with a power pack and spoil bin setup in line behind container truck (see sketch). This setup allowed minimal disruption to residents, with access to properties maintained throughout the project. 2 Spoil bins on rotation dropped spoil to a tip in Ingleburn.

Favourable Ground Conditions

Pezzimenti stored and supplied pipes for council, due to a close relationship with pipe Supplier (Clover pipes), which significantly reduced procurement time and red tape for council.

The favourable ground condition, (Sandstone) enabled the microtunnelling to be done in freebore mode (where there is no outer casing pipe required to support the ground) making it possible to carry out the job swiftly – while work times were strictly adhered to.
