PROJECT OVERVIEW.

The South West Growth Centre (SWGC) is a major NSW government priority to release land for residential development in order to ease Sydney’s chronic housing shortage. As part of these works Sydney Water are creating sewerage infrastructure including sewer carriers and sewerage pumping stations for the South West Growth Centre (SWGC). They awarded Zinfra the contract works – including the Bringelly Road, Camden Valley Way and Denham Road sewer carriers – and Zinfra engaged Pezzimenti Tunnelbore to complete a series of 5 microtunnels

Long Distance Microtunnelling Capability

The scope of works increased for Pezzimenti once works were started due to the difficulties encountered by other contractors and Pezzimenti’s ability to microtunnel long distances and so eliminate designed manhole structures.

Pezzimenti Tunnelbore completed 5 microtunnels, including 2 Freebores that were over 170+ metres (174m and 176m in Shale )

About the South West Growth Centre

The South West Growth Centre is approximately 17,000 hectares in size and includes parts of the Liverpool, Camden and Campbelltown local government areas. It is divided into 18 Precincts that are being progressively released for planning and rezoned for sustainable urban development.

The South West Growth Centre will be supported by a Major Centre at Leppington and be serviced by the new South West Rail Link. It will contain about 110,000 new dwellings for some 300,000 residents — almost the same population as Canberra.
